Royal Arch Trail

This 3-mile out and back trail is a fan favorite amongst experienced hikers. It features an ever-changing scenery of grassy meadows, dense pine forests, and iconic rock formations that loom over the surrounding landscape. While the beginning of the trail is flat, it quickly becomes a steep incline through the Sentinel Pass and up towards the Royal Arch. Be prepared to trek up quite a few stone stairs in order to reach the scenic overlook. On a clear day, you will be able to see the Boulder Flatirons as well as the sparkling city skyline of Denver off in the distance. But even if things are a bit overcast, you can still enjoy the views from the rocky archway on the summit.
