Between the vast whitewater canyons and the snow-capped mountain peaks of the Sawatch Range, this 57-mile drive has plenty to offer in terms of jaw-dropping landscapes. As it travels along the Continental Divide, it crosses hot springs, wooded forests, ranchlands, and of course, the mighty Arkansas River. You will also have the chance to visit over half a dozen ghost towns along the way, many of which were once thriving mining destinations in the mid-1800s. But if you are looking for something a little more lively (with restaurants and shops), Poncha Springs, Buena Vista, and Salida are also accessible from this route.
