Kartchner Caverns Details
Comprised of 50,000-year-old limestone stalactites and stalagmites, this underground network of caves and passageways sheds light on one of Mother Natures most fascinating achievements. As you venture down 130-feet below the earth’s surface, you’ll find 2.4-miles of dark, eerie passageways that lead to different rooms and rock formations that have only been discovered within the last 50 years. The caves contain the worlds longest soda straw stalactite (21 ft 2 in), the worldss tallest column (58 ft), the first reported occurrence of birds nest needle quartz formations, as well the biggest collection of brushite moonmilk limestone. There is also a colony of 2,000 bats that nest in the cave during the spring.
