Naat' tsis' aan - Navajo Mountain Scenic Road

This trail will open your eyes to the sacred land that is Navajo Nation. It stretched for 66 miles across barren desert and open grasslands, with nothing much in the way of civilization except for some horses and a small general store. Instead, you will encounter rocky canyons, towering yucca trees, and even crimson-red sandstone spires dotted along the road. Much of this land is strictly regulated by the Navajo tribe, as the mountains and surrounding areas are considered sacred. Although this route does not pass Navajo Mountain, it does take you around the base, where you will have plenty of opportunities to admire this majestic landmark.
