Jerome, Clarkdale, and Cottonwood Historic Road

Travel down this scenic road and visit several different cities that left their mark on the history of Arizona. This 10-mile route connects the three villages of Jerome, Clarkdale, and Cottonwood, giving drivers and visitors a glimpse into rural daily life during the turn of the 20th century. Centrally located next to Cleopatra Hill, Jerome was a famous copper mining town during the late 1800s. Down the street was Clarkdale, a small town used to house the miners and their families. Cottonwood became a bustling village for other local industries like ranching and farming. There is a lot to see from the road, but if you want to stop and stretch your legs, pull over at the Jerome State Historic Park or the Verde River Greenway for some fresh air.
