This easy to moderate level hike is a fun day trip for all types of hikers. First-time hikers will appreciate that it is well-maintained and flat, while more adventurous trekkers will enjoy the rough and gravel path. This 4.5-mile looped trail has fantastic views of both the city and nature. Not only will you see the rocky ridges of the McDowell Mountains, but you will also have a bird's eye view over the sparkling city skyline of Phoenix. If you are not ready to turn back home quite yet, there is an option to extend your hike by following the sign to Inspiration Point. This adds an additional 3 miles out and back to your trek. It is a bit steeper but has terrific views of Tom's Thumb.
