This short, picturesque trail departs the Lake Overlook Trail and travels through grassy meadows and rolling hills burnt in the 1988 wildfires. The trail climbs gently over a small hill surrounded by thin pine groves, and provides fantastic, panoramic views of Duck Lake, Yellowstone Lake, the Red Mountains, and the spreading forests, marshes surrounding them. Although there are a few hot pools and small fissures scattered on the hillsides, the trail is most popular for its gorgeous Yellowstone scenery and lakeshore access.
