Arizona's contrasting landscapes of deserts, woodlands, and riparian areas make it one of the best birding destinations on the planet. Despite not being on the coastline, the state has clocked over 550 species, from hummingbirds and hawks to condors and cuckoos. A large number of these birds can be seen in the spring or fall as they fly along the western migration route, although winter and summer are ideal times to see native species.
