The Texas Panhandle is home to the second-largest canyon in the United States. Affectionately known as the "Grand Canyon of Texas," this colorful canyon is 120 miles long and anywhere from 800 to 1,000 feet deep. At the center of the valley is the flowing Prairie Dog Town Fork Red River, which has carved through the canyon creating jagged cliffs and rugged plateaus. One of the biggest landmarks in the canyon is Lighthouse Rock, which looms over the valley and river below. You can explore this iconic rock formation by hiking the looped trail that leads around the landmark. The park also has 15 other trails for hikers, as well as campsites, equestrian paths, and even a zip-line course.
