Covering over 190,000 square miles of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico is North America's largest desert. It is also considered the most biologically diverse desert on the planet, with rugged mountains, yucca woodlands, conifer woodlands, and shrubland valleys. The wildlife that roams the desert is also equally impressive. It's home to hundreds of different species of reptiles, fish, mammals, and birds, some of which can only be found in this region. Many of the state's most popular parks and attractions are located within the desert, including Big Bend National Park, Franklin Mountains State Park, and the Rio Grande River.
