Caprock Canyons Details
These crimson-red rocks provide a stunning backdrop across the High Plains of the Texas Panhandle. It covers over 13,000 acres of Texas's third-largest state park – the Caprock Canyons State Park – with its 1,000-foot walls and rolling prairie valleys. Although it is often overlooked by tourists who prefer to visit the Palo Duro Canyon, this stunning geological feature is equally as impressive in terms of natural beauty. One of the best ways to experience the canyons is with a trek along one of the numerous trails around the rim or through the badlands. If you are lucky, you might just spot a herd of bison or other prairie wildlife like foxes, porcupines, and roadrunners roaming through the canyons.
