Barton Springs Pool Details
This is considered to be one of the most popular swimming holes in Austin and for a good reason! The water is supplied by Texas fourth largest spring and has a year-round temperature of 70 to 74 degrees. It is over 900 feet long, which means you should still have no problem finding a place to relax even in the middle of high season. The spring is believed to be sacred, as the waters were used by local Tonkawa Native Americans for purification rituals over 400 years ago. In the mid-1920s, the city of Austin built a pool that connected to the springs by creating dams, sidewalks, and even a bathhouse.
