Lone Star Trail Details

Clocking in at 128 miles, this trail is the longest continuous hiking path in the entire state of Texas. It connects the cities of Richards with Cleveland, although a large section of the trail goes through Sam Houston National Forest. The trail is divided into three distinct sections and offers hikers the chance to experience numerous landscapes and foliage along the way. To the west is the Lake Conroe Area, which is 40 miles long and consists of four connecting loop trails. Next is the largest section, the 60-mile Central Area (60 miles long), which runs from the Stubblefield Recreation Area to the town of Evergreen. Finally, the 28-mile long Winters Bayou/Tarkington Creek part of the trailheads all the way east and travels through the scenic Winters Bayou area of Cleveland.
