Not for the faint of heart, this trail is a challenging hike through the vast landscape of the Palo Duro Canyon the Grand Canyon of Texas. It is 5 miles in total and features a steep incline that exceeds 600 feet within the last 2 miles of the course. However, the otherworldly landscape of jagged plateaus, native desert shrubs, and dramatic cliffs are impressive enough to distract you from the rigorous journey. Once you reach the rim of the canyon, you will be rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of the canyons and valleys. If you are not too tired, you can continue to the Rylander Fortress Cliff Trail, which circles around the rim and boasts magnificent views from every angle.
