Cross Timbers Trail Details

This trail is approximately 15-miles long. It runs parallel to the banks of Lake Texoma and crosses other bodies of water, including the Cedar Bayou, Paw Paw Creek, and Rock Creek. Due to the length of this trail, it is common for hikers to tackle it over the course of two days, so there are multiple campsites along the way where you can rest for the night. As with many other recreational attractions in Texas, this trail was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the late 1960s, although many improvements were made by numerous outdoor clubs and local scout groups. Wildlife is plentiful along the trail, with deer, fox, rabbit, and even coyote sightings being commonly reported.
