This trail starts in the city center of Houston but quickly leaves the bustle of downtown life in exchange for the great outdoors. As you cycle along the Buffalo Bayou, you will immediately enter fields of green space as you head to the historic downtown of Allen. Pass by T.C. Jester Park, White Oak Park, Stude Park, and Hogg Park. It is also worth stopping for a quick look at Watonga Parkway Park, where you will find a resident colony of thousands of Mexican free-tail bats living under the bridge. It is a fascinating 17-mile ride that makes for an easy day trip for those staying within the city limits.
