Osprey Falls Trail Details
Named for the osprey and other fish hawks that inhabit the area in large numbers, this 150-foot waterfall is surprisingly one of the park's least visited falls. The trail follows an old road, and descends quickly into the bottom of Sheepeater Canyon, using a number of switchbacks and steeply graded areas as it travels across the fire-ravaged slopes of the canyon. The base of the falls, which is located just behind Bunsen Peak, provides the best views of these voluminous, roaring falls. The falls rush over dark rocks, producing massive clouds of mist as they plunge into the Gardner River. The climb out of the canyon can prove quite challenging, but a number of pretty mountain terraces are visible from points along the trail.
