Pelican Creek Trail Details
This short, scenic trail travels through a thick, undamaged lodgepole pine forest to the north shore of Yellowstone Lake, where there are stunning wide views from the sand and pebble beaches. Elephant Black Mountain and Stevenson Island are visible to the west, while Mount Sheridan can be seen in the south, and the Absaroka Range appears in the east. The trail then loops back across a marshy meadow via a series of boardwalks before following Pelican Creek back to the trailhead. The level trail is very popular among birders, as the lake and marsh provide excellent opportunities to see American white pelicans, heron, geese, cormorants, and many other waterfowl.
