The Angelina National Forest is one of four national forests located within Texas. Archeologists estimate that humans came to this area more than 8,000 years ago, and have resided here ever since. The Angelina National Forest is located on both the south and north shores of the Sam Rayburn Reservoir in the Neches River Basin, and is home to hundreds of wildlife species, with the principle game species being white-tail deer, wild turkey, and bobwhite quail.
