South Rim Trail Details
This generally flat, easy trail follows the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, connecting the Chittenden Bridge area with Artist Point, and providing the option of continuing over a high plateau and into wild mountain meadows. Winding in and out of a mixed evergreen forest, the trail provides fantastic views of classic Yellowstone scenery, including deep canyon views and far-off glimpses of waterfalls and the Yellowstone River. The trail is partly paved, and is best at sunset, when the light brings out the most color in the canyon walls, and the trail is the least crowded.
