Sand Beach is inviting for sunbathers, but swimmers should be aware that the ocean temperature here is chilly even at the height of summer. The water temperature rarely exceeds 55 degrees (13 degrees Celsius). If you do jump in, you'll find that the beach has a shallow slope and fine sand. The dunes are off limits, however, there is a small river which cuts through the beach and makes for a nice wading pool for young children. Lifeguards staff the beach throughout the summer season. There are large restrooms and changing facilities located near the parking lot.
