There are only a few swimming locations on Mount Desert Island and Acadia, and most people go to either Sand Beach or Echo Lake. Because of this, Lakewood Pond is a hidden gem. It's located in a quiet section of the park and sees very little traffic as a result. The small sandy beach is accessible via a short trail at the end of the Lake Wood Road off of Crooked Road.
