Among the things that Maine is famous for, being the first place the sun shines in the United State is one of them. However, it's not always the same location. Throughout the year, the first place to receive the sun's light varies between West Quoddy Head in Lubec (March 7 to March 24 and September 19 to October 6), the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park (January 11 to March 6 and October 7 to November 29), and Mars Hill Mountain in Mars Hill (March 25 to Sept. 18th).
