Palermo Preserve follows the wetlands, overflows, and drainage of the Sheepscot River, an important location for Atlantic Salmon. Used as spawning grounds due to the fast water and deep pools, the preserve sees a vast amount of wildlife that live for and off of these fish. The mile of easy and moderate trails follow the river's wetlands and vernal forest pools where visitors can read signs identifying trees and other natural ecological components while admiring the scenic vistas.
