Whiskeag Trail Details
The beautiful 5 mile Whiskeag Trail is for many the heart of Bath. It connects the McMann Athletic Complex and Bath Middle School in the south with the Sewell Preserve and Thorne Head Preserve to the north while following the Whiskeag Creek into the Kennebec River Estuary. The land here is extremely sensitive with its mix of freshwater and saltwater conditions that provide an important nesting ground for a variety of species. The trail is easy to follow and provides for numerous opportunities to get out and enjoy the waterways and woodland of the area. Interestingly, the name of the creek comes from the Abenaki language meaning, "a creek that runs nearly dry at low tides."
