Sam Ristich Trail Network Details

One of many of Maine's trails named in commemoration of a great figure, the Sam Ristich Trail Network was not named for the most enthusiastic naturalist or decorated general of his era, but for his love of mushrooms. Known as an avid mycologist, Sam Ristich was recognized region-wide as the one to call when someone had accidentally ingested an unidentified species or needed any form of advice. He often led tours through the trails that are now named after him, inciting an excitement for nature in any that were present.
