Debsconeag Falls Details

Debsconeag Falls is a series of fast-moving rapids located in the Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area. The Debsconeag Lakes Wilderness Area is well known for its abundance of rugged forest and wildlife as the north end of the 100 Mile Wilderness. As an ecological reserve, this area has the highest concentration of isolated ponds in the region. With views of Katahdin, hiking, fishing, and more, visitors will question the odd name that was derived from the native word meaning "carrying place" due to the need to traverse around the rivers often with canoes.
