If there was ever a bucket list item worth noting, being the first one in the country to watch the sunrise would have to be it. In Maine, one can, from the top of the tallest peak on the Atlantic, Cadillac Mountain. Rising 1,530 feet, it is one of many tall peaks in Acadia National Park formed, and flattened, by glaciers. Between January 11 and March 6 as well as between October 7 and November 29 it is the first place the sun shines in the United States. It is also a popular spot both for hiking and sightseeing, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain islands begging to be photographed.
