A 3.8-mile moderate out-and-back hike via the Brook Trail. Tumbledown Mountain, a popular spot in Maine for those looking to spend the day traversing boulders, hanging out in the woods, and hiking away to capture spectacular views. The mountain is known for its scenery and the alpine lake located just below its summit. Often called Crater Lake or Tumbledown Pond locally, visitors like to camp here on overnight hikes. The summit can also be reached via the 3.0-mile strenuous out-and-back Loop Trail, which is not recommended to bring your dogs along for this one though unless they hike on the regular. There are several ladders and steep spots to climb that are difficult for those with four legs, as well as one with two legs.
