Saddleback Junior Details
A 10.8-mile moderate out-and-back hike starting at the base of the ski resort. Saddleback Junior Mountain is the smallest of the Saddleback peaks, but the hike between Saddleback Mountain, The Horn, and Saddleback Junior Mountain is considered to be one best ridge hikes in the state. Flanked by its larger half, Saddleback Mountain, and the Poplar Ridge, the mountain and surrounding summits offer stunning views of the surrounding peaks and Kennebec River Watershed. Interestingly, Saddleback Junior Mountain is the marker of the southern perimeter of the U.S. Navy Survival Escape and Survival Training Facility, a place where our military gets sent to learn how to survive a wartime capture scenario.
