Quaggy Joe Mountain Details
A 2.3-mile network of easy and moderate hikes. Aroostook State Park, where Quaggy Jo Mountain is located, is Maine's oldest state park, established in 1939. The name is translated from the native word for twin peaks, "Qua Qua Jo," after the mountain's double peaks. Booths are accessible on a hike to the summit, with a viewing platform in between the two summits as well. Though open year-round, the surrounding forest is mainly deciduous, providing for spectacularly colored foliage. Birdwatching here is also a popular pastime.
