A 1.4-mile moderate out-and-back hike. Ossipee Hill Trail is moderately trafficked and not far from the town. Waterboro, Maine is an older town with a rich history of settlers, fires, agriculture, and lumber. Named "Massabesic" by the Abenaki, meaning "the place of much water," the region is spotted with streams and lakes. Many visitors like to drive a good portion of the way to the summit, and some mention the remnants of old buildings and walls long forgotten. The top has a fire tower with views of the surrounding landscape.
