Number Four Mountain Details
A 3.3-mile strenuous out-and-back hike. Named after the fire tower here, Number Four Mountain was once a fire warden outpost. Now abandoned, the old and partially redone trail follows the same route the wardens would take from camp to the tower. The final destination is the fire tower that still sits as a remnant to days past and allows for views of Moosehead Lake and the beautiful surrounding mountains. Those looking for more adventure can continue on towards Baker Mountain. Not as popularly hiked, visitors here are rewarded by views of Mount Katahdin.
