Approximately two miles of trails run over the gentle slopes of the 171 acres of Tatnic Hills Preserve. A wildlife sanctuary with its varied landscapes, visitors will enjoy the diversity of habitats they'll find, such as deep vernal pools and old-growth forest. The wetland areas and growing of trees unique to most of Maine, like the shagbark hickory, draw numerous animals. Guests should keep an eye out for threatened species like the Blanding's and spotted turtle that are sometimes seen making their way to the pools to lay eggs.
