Part of the Great Works Regional Land Trust, the Grover-Herrick Preserve is part of 48,000 acres of Maine's diverse natural habitat protected to conserve natural resources. The preserve only offers a short mile-long loop trail, however, the short stroll is worth it as visitors will get a scenic overlook of the Bauneg Beg Pond. With a mixing of underground and river water, the pond is nutrient-rich and closely watched to control its 179-acre size. The most often visitors here are anglers, come to catch everything from chain pickerel to white perch.
