Mount Battie Details
A 1.1-mile moderate out-and-back hike. With views that inspired the poem, "Renascence," by Edna St. Vincent Millay, Mt. Battie is a short but worthy hike. Though only rising approximately 800 feet, the summit of Mt. Battie gives way to both perfect Maine coastal views and the rich history of Camden. The views stretch across the busy Penobscot Bay and, on a clear day, show off the beautiful peaks of Acadia National Park. Standing at the peak now as a silent guard, the stone tower here was dedicated to the park in 1921 as a monument to the men and women of WWI.
