Jockey Cap Details

A 0.8-mile moderate out-and-back hike on an enormous glacial erratic. Not far from the popular town of historical Fryeburg, Jockey Cap Trail is a short hike up to the top of a glacial errati in the Saco River Valley. The trail here actually used to be an old ski area and some parts are relatively steep, though it's still a great hike for families. The empty dome peak has a bronze marker denoting the surrounding landscape, as well as a stone monument dedicated to the famous arctic explorer, Robert Peary, who once resided in the town below.
