Borestone Mountain Details

A 3.5-mile network of moderate trails, the Borestone Mountain sits along the southern end of Maine's "100 Mile Wilderness" area, encompassing two peaks and making for beautiful scenic outlooks. Though some areas of the trails are steep, it is overall a very moderate hike, making it a popular destination to bring family members. While the area itself is already beautiful, of interesting note is that the Audubon Society Sanctuary here has protected this forested area from the logging that impacted most other forests of the region. Unlike other woods, the trees are spectacular due to remaining untouched for over a century. No dogs are allowed on this trail and a small fee is seasonally charged at the Borestone Welcome Center.
