Baldpate Mountain Details
A 5.6-7.6 mile strenuous out-and-back hike located in the Mahoosuc Public Lands. Winding through pine pitch forests with trees damaged by the lumber industry and weathering, the two peaks here are not for the inexperienced hiker. As a testament, a portion of the Appalachian Trail also passes here, over both peaks, and being near the end, this is for the dedicated. As part of the Androscoggin River watershed, there are also multiple waterways draining off the high peaks causing colder weather to present a problem for hikers. Ensure that ice climbing shoes are brought along.
