Flowing into the Atlantic Ocean, the Saco River opens up just south of a 117-acre public recreation area known as Ferry Beach State Park. Visitors will find a nice sandy beach and nature center here for families to learn about the Maine wildlife and busy ferry crossing that once operated. Along with numerous hiking trails, scenic views, and an inland swamp, there is also a grove of tupelo trees. While not rare, this is about as far north as visitors are able to find this type of foliage. Facilities: Picnic Area, Group Picnic Shelter, Grill, Restrooms, Parking
