Aroostook State Park Details
Totaling 898 acres in Maine's North Woods, Aroostook has the honor of being the state's first state park. Open to most activities for a fee, from snowmobiling to motorized boating, the area allows for access to parts of the Allagash Waterways, Canadian Provinces, Echo Lake, and the infamous Quaggy Jo Mountain, short for the native word meaning "Twin Peaks." Though most popular with outdoor enthusiasts, the area's geology is so unique that scientists too flock here to study. It even has once been named the "Geologic Site of the Month."
