Zion-Mount Carmel Highway Details
Completed in 1930, the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway -- also known as State Road 9 -- is 10 miles long and links the park's east and south entrances. The steep, twisting highway connects Zion to its sister parks along the Grand Staircase -- Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon -- as well as Kanab, Utah, where many Western movies are filmed.
