Head of Meadow Trail Details
Cape Cod is famous for its seemingly endless beaches, and the Head of the Meadow trail offers you the opportunity to hike for up to 10 miles along the North Truro and Provincetown shoreline. The south trailhead is at Head of the Meadow Beach; the north trailhead is at Race Point Beach. The trail tracks a bicycle path before going along the beach, with detours to sights like High Head. You will pass Provincetown's famous artists' shacks and the Old Harbor Lifesaving Station, and may spot whales and seals offshore. Expect the full hike to take five hours; pack plenty of water and food on this isolated hike, and keep an eye on the weather forecast. You can park in the beach parking lots for free in the offseason; during summer, park at the Province Lands Visitors Center in the north and the Highland Light parking lot in the south to avoid the crowds and fees.
