Overview
The Grand Loop -- the most storied road tour of Yellowstone -- began as a figure-8 wagon road laid out in the 1880s by the Army Corps of Engineers. The current 140-mile road, built in the early 20th century, provides easy access to many of Yellowstone's most popular attractions, including Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Fall, Lake Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and the park's three major geyser basins, including those containing Old Faithful and the Steamboat Springs Geyser. All of the park's entrance road connect to the Grand Loop somewhere along its path.
