Yellowstone River Details

The Yellowstone River runs for 692 miles from northwestern Wyoming, through Yellowstone National Park and eventually connecting to the Missouri River. It is the longest undammed river in the lower 48 U.S. states and the only major river that still runs along its natural course. The lack of artificial barriers make the river an excellent habitat for fish, particularly trout. As it courses through Yellowstone National Park, the river creates Yellowstone Lake, plunges over Yellowstone Falls, negotiates the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Black Canyon, and remains throughout a powerful, wild, and largely undisturbed waterway.
