Firehole River Details

The Firehole River, as you might suspect, gets its name from several geothermal features along its path. The river passes through several geyser basins, including the one containing Old Faithful. As a result, its waters can be as warm as 86 F and the river often steams as it rushes by. There are several good fly-fishing areas on the Firehole, as well as three major waterfalls.
