Abrams Falls Trail Details

Abrams Falls, presumably named after the Cherokee Chief Oskuah who later adopted the name Abram, flows from the longest stream within the park boundaries over a 20-foot drop into a pretty plunge pool lined with lush hemlocks, pines, and oaks. The moderate trail to the falls follows Abrams Creek, occasionally ascending gently rolling hills and intersecting with a spur trail leading to the Elijah Oliver House. The rock-lined plunge pool is a popular destination for bathers, but can be quite dangerous due to the fast-moving waters and hidden rocks that lie under the park's most voluminous falls. NOTE: There are several rather steep inclines (in both directions) and rocky areas that require careful attention.
