The hiking trails of Twentymile are the only way to explore this roadless backcountry area of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Starting near Fontana Dam, these trails run past manmade lakes and through deep forests. The rugged and remote Twentymile River jumps with rainbow trout, and great hiking trails in the area include the Twentymile Trail to the Shuckstack fire tower on the Appalachian Trail, the Wolf Ridge Trail to Parson Bald, and a trio of trails leading to Gregory Bald.
