Foothills Parkway (West) Details

The western segment of the Foothills Parkway, 18 paved miles in all, provides access to an observation tower at Look Rock as well as numerous roadside vistas. As you drive along the long crest of Chilhowee Mountain, look for Thunderhead Mountain -- the highest peak in the western half of Great Smoky Mountains National Park -- and enjoy the views of Miller's Cove and long panoramas Happy Valley and of flatlands that once served as a major Cherokee warpath.
