Clear Creek Trail Details
This trail leads to the tranquil Clear Creek area, from which there are small trails to Cheyava Falls, the highest waterfalls in the Grand Canyon, and to the Colorado River. Climbing steadily from the trailhead, this secluded trail follows a number of switchbacks to Sumner Butte and Phantom Overlook, which has great views of the Phantom Ranch area before leveling out as it nears Zoroaster Canyon. Although the trail from the canyon rim is probably the most difficult part of the route, the stunning views down of the length of the canyon are well worth it. Because it is accessible only from the long Bright Angel and South Kaibab Trails, it is recommended that you turn it into a two-day hike; the Clear Creek area is a popular camping area.
